DIGITAL MATERIAL CREATION
From June of 2022 to January of 2023 I interned as a Digital Materials Specialist for Browzwear. I performed over 100 physics tests on various apparel materials for dozens of international and national clients, to digitize their product development workflows. I created digital clones of apparel materials ranging from knits to woven and other performance-specialized textiles; compiling the visual as well as physical, data-driven characteristics
The images on the first image (on the left) show a completed tile I created using the xTex software with a high-quality capture of the material's surface.
After tiling the textures for the face and back of the material, the physics data (calculated with tests using the Fabric Analyzer) are combined, resulting in the final digitized material draped (image on right) that can now be used in 3D design software like Browzwear and CLO.
During this internship, I worked closely with another intern in order to ensure we were on track to meet deadlines, communicating with the clients, and providing the most accurate data.
